Fernando Pessoa, in addition to his heteronymous works, scattered narrative fictions throughout his lifetime in newspapers and magazines, marked by humor, intelligence, absurdity, and irony, now gathered in this volume, along with three previously unpublished pieces.

Complete Stories includes "Complete Stories & Decorative Chronicles"—among them the celebrated story "The Anarchist Banker" and the curious fiction "The Automobile Was Disappearing," written as advertising copy for a brand of car paint—, "Fables for Young Nations"—a collection of six stories transcribed from the originals found in the author's estate at the National Library—, "The Sailor: Static Drama in a Picture," and "Selected Stories by O. Henry translated from the original English by Fernando Pessoa," published in the magazine Athena between December 1924 and June 1925.
